Niceness vs. Kindness

14/08/2022

In relation to our last podcast it's more than fair to distinguish between 'niceness' and 'kindness'. It's said that “niceness could be dishonest in order to avoid confrontation, whereas kindness is honest but often uncomfortable”.

We spend our lives being nice, to please everyone, avoiding confrontation and discomfort. For that we are often encouraged to ignore our own needs and put those of others first. The external validation of others and how deeply the need to be nice embedded itself.

Letting go of this need for 'impressions of me' is letting go of transitional niceness to genuinely give and receive kindness.
