Estrangement

Closeness for Maria (fictitious name) is frightening simply because people let her down so she has adopted a strategy of removal to protect herself. She is emotionally hurt.

But removal is no answer. We all have the right to protect ourselves from any and everyone who does not have our best interest at heart or violates us in any way. But in spite of the distance, always to keep the door open. Boundaries are healthy but full-blown alienation is rarely the right answer.
