Building Compassion

One likely conclusion after the harsh year we passed is the lack of trust and confidence felt and voiced with the institutions and more particularly with the local governments due to lack of financial support to individuals in crisis. Losing faith in political institutions is tantamount to losing social capital,i.e., the idea that citizens more or less agree on the rules of society and why they matter. We in the Associação had to bring to light and advocate for a couple of cases to the local municipality this last week. Although part of the objectives of the Associação is to refer and to redirect those in need to responsible identities, it became clear that local governments need to align their commitments and incentives offered in ways that contribute to social trust.
